106 Faculties and Courses of Study must have previously obtained the LL degree with first or upper second class honours or the LL degree of the University of London or an equivalent degree of another university The minimum period of study is two years In the case of the LL degree candidate must have previously obtained the LL Phil or the Ph degree in the Faculty of Laws as an internal student In exceptional circumstances candidate who has obtained the LL degree as an internal student may be ex- empted from this requirement on the ground of published work Can- didates must submit published papers or books constituting an original contribution to the advancement of legal knowledge ACADEMIC POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LAW The University grants an Academic Postgraduate Diploma in Law to graduates of London and other approved universities who have attended course of study extending over not less than one year and have passed the prescribed examination Before admission to the course applicants must submit for approval by the University evidence of their qualifications which should include preliminary training in law and an adequate knowledge of English Exemptions BAR EXAMINATIONS Exemptions from certain subjects in Part of the Bar examination may be granted to persons who have satisfied the examiners in selected subjects of the London LL examination Full details may be found in the prospectus of the Faculty of Laws ARTICLED CLERKS The LL degree exempts articled clerks from examination in subjects of Part of the Law Society's Qualifying examination to the extent that the degree examination includes the subjects of Part of the Qualifying examination For further information the prospectus of the Faculty of Laws should be consulted
