xlvi Annual Report of the Delegacy First Degrees Honours ist Class 2nd Class Upper Division 2nd Class Lower Division rd Class Higher Degrees MA with Distinction Lofmark 'The Rennewart action in Wolfram's Willehalm Departmental Notes Professor Norman represented the University of London and read paper at the fifth international congress of the International Federation of Modern Languages and Literatures which was held in New York in August 1963 He attended the autumn and spring meetings of the Deutsche Akademie fur Sprache und Dichtung of which he is corresponding member and the annual conference of the Modern Language Association of America in Chicago in December Professor Norman lectured in October 1963 at the Istituto Italiano di Studi Germanici in Rome and at the Universities of Chicago Kansas Oxford Munich Tubingen Freiburg Heidelberg and Frankfurt at the Free University of Berlin and at the Deutsche Akademie der Wissenschaften in Berlin In October he gave an address on Research Supervision at the School of Oriental and African Studies and in March addressed the London Association of University Teachers on University Reform At the invitation of the Deutsche Akademie der Wissenschaften in Berlin Professor Norman took part in discussions concerning the new edition of Grimm's Dictionary and he took part in three-way broad- cast on education with representatives of Germany and Switzerland entitled Gesprdch iiber die Grenze In June he attended meeting of the executive committee of the Congres International Permanent des Linguistes at Amsterdam to ar- range the tenth international congress to be held in Bucharest in 1967 Dr Mary Gdbert also attended the fifth international congress of the International Federation of Modern Languages and Literatures in New York in August 1963 and in May 1964 she visited King's College students in major North German university towns
