Annual Report of the Delegacy duct seminars at Bombay and Delhi for teachers from many Indian universities On the way home he visited the Universities of Tehran Ankara and Istanbul Later in connection with the Shakespeare quatercentenary celebrations he gave lectures in France at Dijon Lyon Besan90n and Strasbourg During the long vacation he spent six weeks teaching in the universities of South Africa He delivered the annual British Academy Shakespeare lecture on April 22nd Professor Garmonsway was invited by the Provost of Uni- versity College to deliver the first lecture in the Dorothea Coke Me- morial Lecture series in Northern Studies and gave lecture on 'Canute and his empire He also lectured at Royal Holloway College in the Lent and Summer terms and gave paper to the Literary Society of the college In October Mr Crow lectured on 'The Player's Speech in Hamlet' at Yale University and read paper to the Bibliographical Society London on 'The text of Hamlet He lectured in February on 'Early editions of Shakespeare' at the University of Sheffield and in March on 'Shakespeare and the lunatic fringe' at the University of Liverpool During July and August he was Visiting Professor at McMaster University Hamilton Ontario Canada and Visiting Lecturer at the Shakespeare Seminars Stratford Ontario Dr Armstrong visited Holland in the autumn of 1963 at the invitation of the British-Netherlands Society lecturing on various aspects of Shakespeare at Der Helder Haarlem Maastricht the Uni- versity of Groningen and the University of Leyden In January he lectured to the Society for Theatre Research on 'The staging and acting of medieval liturgical drama' and in March to the Nether Hall Film Society on Romeo and Juliet He lectured on 'Shakespeare and his actors' to 300 sixth-formers at Sir George Manoux Grammar School Walthamstow in July During the London University Summer School in August he lectured on Synge and Sean O'Casey Dr Sheard gave talk on' Shakespeare's verbal humour' on the BBC 'English by Radio' Sunday Magazine programme Mr Yarker gave six lectures in the French Institute on the Romantic Poets He also lectured on 'Nonsense' to the Nottingham University Literary Society Mr Ε Mottram gave six lectures during the year to student societies in London Manchester and Birmingham universities He took the chair at three poetry readings by the American poets Muriel Rukesyer Herbert Gold and Piero Heliczer In November he spoke on
