Faculties and Courses of Study 123 POWDER TECHNOLOGY This course which is provided in the Faculty of Engineering and covers one session may be followed by students who have taken first degree in Engineering Physics Chemistry or certain other approved branches of applied science The course leads to the College Diploma in Powder Technology Particulars are given in separate leaflet FOR THE POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION course in professional training extending over one session three terms is open to all men and women graduates of recognised univer- sities who are accepted by the Head of the Education Department Details are available on application to the Department and further information is given in leaflet issued separately RESEARCH There are opportunities for research work other than for higher degree in all departments of the Faculty School of Biological Sciences The College has set up School of Biological Sciences as means whereby co-operation between departments will be increased The normal activities of the constituent departments being unaltered the School is to be regarded for the present as federation with both im- mediate and long-term aims In the session 1964-65 start was made in the form of certain specialised courses on biological macromolecules attended by students from several of the constituent departments In the session 1965-66 it is hoped to extend such courses in scope and in the number of students attending The long term aims are two-fold To offer Biology as main subject in general degree or its future equivalent To make available in addition to the special degrees already offered by the constituent departments special degree in Biology For both of these objectives it is hoped to develop more fully aspects of biology which are included in the general scope of biophysics or molecular biology as distinct and separate courses at the appropriate level
