100 Facilities and Courses of Study department For applicants still at school the paper will be sent to their respective schools in the first half of the year at dates to be arranged if possible during the Lent term Other arrangements will be made for applicants who have left school Copies of previous test papers are not available Students reading for French or German Honours are required to spend their third year abroad returning to College for the final year They arc accepted only on this condition All French Honours students are required to apply for an assistantship during their second year in College with view of spending the following year in French school Students reading for Spanish Honours are accepted only on condition that they spend the third term of the first year of their course at university in Spain Students in their first year will be encouraged to attend lectures in at least one subject other than those which form an integral part of their degree course general degree Three examination subjects have to be taken from the following list it should be noted that Greek may not be selected without Latin Latin French Portuguese Greek Geography Spanish Mathematics German Theology English History War Studies Old Norse History of Philosophy Three papers are set in each subject and the pass list is published in three divisions The second division is divided into an upper and lower section Honours are not awarded The course is of three years' duration CONDITIONS OF ENTRY Applicants must satisfy the following sets of conditions University General Requirements and Special Course Requirements in the Faculty of Arts In order to be qualified to commence course of study for degree in the Faculty of Arts in any London college an applicant must have satisfied the general requirements of the University for the procedure to be followed see General Information page 63 by means of subjects
