82 General Information King's College Hall Warden Morton ll King's College Hall stands in grounds of some four acres on the higher part of Denmark Hill and is reached from the College in about thirty minutes by bus or train There are places for 85 men some of which arc reserved for students at King's College Hospital The public rooms include pleasantly furnished common-rooms dining-room billiard room and well-stocked library which includes over 900 volumes bequeathed by Lord Hore-Belisha Within the grounds of the Hall are gardens lawns and two hard tennis courts Permission may also be obtained for the use of the squash racquets courts at King's College Hospital Accommodation is in single and double study-bedrooms The fees for the session are £150 or £155 for single rooms and £135 for shared rooms These fees include breakfast and dinner throughout the term and lunch and tea at the week-ends Heating in individual rooms is by gas-fires with separate meters All public rooms are centrally heated The Hospital and Denmark Hill Station are within five minutes' walk of the Hall and there arc frequent electric trains to Blackfriars and Victoria Stations Bus routes convenient to the Hall include routes 68 176 and 196 from the Strand 184 from the Embankment and 185 from Victoria Application for admission should be made to the Sub-Warden King's College Hall Champion Hill SE5 as early as possible in the year in which the candidate wishes to enter the Hall Applications arc considered in the summer term Halliday Hall Warden Ridge sc ph Built in 1934 as an hotel and acquired by the College after the war this hall of residence for men was opened in October 1950 At present 133 students from all Faculties at King's can be accommodated The building faces the South Side of Clapham Common and has garden with one hard tennis-court at the back Access to College is by bus or under- ground the single journey taking abour 40 minutes and costing υ The Hall is also on the direct route between the College and the Athletic Ground at Mitcham Three types of room are available Single study-bedrooms with private bathroom and small entrance lobby There are 73 rooms of this type Fee £170 Large study-bedrooms suitable for sharing by two students with private bathroom and lobby There are 20 rooms of this type Fee 145 each man Single study-bedrooms of moderate size fitted with hot and cold water and wash-basin There are 20 rooms of this type Fee 150 The fees quoted are for session of three terms They are payable in advance at the College Office by terminal instalments The meals provided are breakfast and dinner 011 Mondays to Fridays inclusive and full board at week-ends
