Annual Report xxxiii Departmental Notes Professor Dickens read paper entitled 'Lollardy and the Re- formation' at the Anglo-Dutch Conference of Historians held in Utrecht September 24th-28th 1962 Mr Howard lectured on 'Splendid isolation-fact or le- gend to the North London Branch of the Historical Association on May 10th 1963 Mr Hodgett was re-elected to the Council of the Historical Association He lectured on 'The King in medieval England' to group of students from Temple University Dr Duggan read communication at the annual conference of the Ecclesiastical Historical Society in Peterhouse Cambridge in July 1962 entitled 'Primitive decretal collections in the British Museum He was appointed delegate of the University of London and of King's Col- lege at the second International Congress of Medieval Canon Law held in Boston College Massachusetts August 12th-16th 1963 Dr Flint was Visiting Professor at the University of Nigeria Nsukka Mr Rosevare lectured on 'The failure of the Stuarts' to mem- bers of the 'Study Abroad' course Temple University Dr Roseveare and Mr Roy gave course of talks on English social history from the eighteenth century to the present day at the Brunei College of Advanced Technology Acton Dr Brown read paper to the Society of Antiquaries on Queen- borough Castle in November 1962 and he addressed the Royal Arch- aeological Institute on Rochester Castle in May 1963 at Rochester He led an Historical Association tour of North Norfolk in September 1963 and party of undergraduates to the continuing excavation at Richard's Castle Herefordshire in the autumn of 1963 Mr Metcalf delivered lectures at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and at the Commonwealth Institute department of palaeography Professor Brown held classes for candidates for Honours in English for students of Birkbeck College and for graduates from the Institute of Classical Studies In the Lent term he gave four inter- collegiate lectures on Latin Palaeography for the Board of Studies in Classics and on November 22nd delivered an Inaugural Lecture on
