Annual Report career at Cambridge Professor Ridcal held appointments at Univcr- sity College London the University of Illinois the University of Cambridge the Royal Institution and the Davy Faraday Research Laboratory He was Professor of Physical Chemistry at King's College 1950-55 DISTINCTIONS AND APPOINTMENTS GAINED BY PAST AND PRESENT MEMBERS OF THE COLLEGE The Principal Dr Noble was re-appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of London for the session 1963-64 He was elected to represent the University of London on the Court of the University of Southampton until June 1964 II Fellows Dr Gooch student in the General Literature Department 1889-92 was awarded the Order of Merit in August 1963 Professor Dudley Stamp had the honorary degree of Doctor of Natural Science conferred on him by the University of Warsaw and he was elected an honorary member of the Polish Geographical Society The Reverend Canon Trillo Principal of Bishops' College Cheshunt former student of the College was appointed Suffragan Bishop of Bedford III Past and Present Staff Professor Harper formerly on the staff of the Chemistry department was appointed Vice-Principal of the University College of Rhodesia and Nyasaland where he has been Head of the Chemistry department since 1955 Professor Jones who since his retirement from this College in 1961 has been Professor of French in the University of Ghana was awarded the Palmes Academiques by the French Government Professor Ε Wright Assistant Lecturer in Mathematics 1932-33 was appointed Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen The Reverend Professor Ackroyd was appointed Select Preacher to Oxford University 1962 and Montgomery Lecturer for 1963-64 to the Institute of Christian Education Professor Arthur was appointed Secretary to the Board of Studies in Zoology
