Studentships Scholarships Exhibitions Bursaries and Prizes 167 The Prize consists of books or instruments to the value of £3 The Prize will be awarded at the end of each session to the student who shall have most distinguished himself in the final year of the course for the General degree of Sc provided that the candidate has studied Pure Mathematics or Physics as part of his course PHYSICS ESSAY PRIZE This prize was founded in 1945 by the gift of £50 by an anonymous donor The Prize consists of books to the value of £10 The Prize is open to all full-time undergraduate students in the Department of Physics The Prize is awarded annually to the student who in the opinion of the Pro- fessors of Physics submits the best essay on some subject within the range of Atomic and Nuclear Physics the subject to be selected annually by the Professor Candidates must send their essays to the Registrar not later than May 31st The subject for 1965 may be any one of the following Space physics Modern conceptions of the liquid state Fundamental particles The solid state
