126 Facilities and Courses of Study CHEMICAL ENGINEERING Professor and Head of Department Watkins sc wales chem Lecturer Morris sc Birmingham ph london chem STRUCTURE AND ORGANISA- TION OF INDUSTRY Special Lecturer Corry sc econ ph london The Faculty provides systematic courses of study in engineering suit- able for students preparing for internal degrees of the University of London and for the College postgraduate diploma courses in Chemical Engineering and Powder Technology Undergraduate Courses ADMISSION OF STUDENTS Details of the procedure to be followed by students seeking admission to undergraduate courses are given on page 62 Applicants are admitted by the Sub-Dean of the Faculty or in the case of women applicants by the Tutor to Women Students on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty and as advised by Heads of Departments or their representatives COURSES FOR SC ENG DEGREE Three-year courses of instruction in Civil Mechanical and Electrical engineering are offered to undergraduates in the Faculty of Engineering The first year of the course is taken in common by the three sections and during the second and third years the courses become increasingly specialised In the third year students are required to undertake indivi- dual investigation The degree examination is taken in three sections Part Part II and Part III For more detailed information the separate prospectus for the Faculty of Engineering should be consulted
