98 FACULTY OF ARTS COURSES OF STUDY The Faculty provides systematic courses of study in Arts suitable for students preparing for the Internal Degrees and Diplomas of the University of London At the present time as regards the first or degree of the Univer- sity only Regular students are admitted that is students who take full-time course with the object of graduating and pay the Composition Fee of the Faculty Owing to pressure of numbers the admission of occasional students is suspended The Faculty does not normally consider applications from candidates seeking admission direct from school more than one year ahead except when applicants intend to spend year abroad immediately before entry under such schemes as that organised by Voluntary Service Overseas The attention 01 students is called to the General College Rules I-FOR THE DEGREE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LONDON Directions for Application Applicants from the United Kingdom seeking admission to the un- dergraduate courses are advised to consult the booklet Getting into University issued to schools and others by the Universities Central Council on Admissions 29 Tavistock Square London Applica- tion forms will be available in schools from the beginning of the autumn term 1963 One form will suffice for all the universities and colleges served by this Council and must be returned completed to the Council before December 31st Only applicants who have left school should write to the Central Office for form The form will be accompanied by full instructions for completing it All subsequent correspondence with the College concerning entry should be sent direct to the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Arts in the case of men and to the Tutor to Women Students in the case of women and should clearly indicate the appli- cant's serial number and any course or courses for which application has been made Overseas applicants should in 1963-64 continue to apply to the universities and colleges of their choice either direct or through the offices of the High Commissioner Embassy or Consulate according to current arrangements Conditions of Entry Applicants must satisfy the three sets of conditions given below The University's General Requirements In order to be qualified for admission to any Faculty in any college of this University an applicant must satisfy the University's general requirements The procedure to be followed is the same for all Facilities and is outlined above under General Information on page 42
