SCHOLARSHIPS-NATURAL SCIENCE 09 The Studentship is normaUy tenable for two years but may be renewed in exceptional circumstances for third year The Student must work in the Department of Zoology of King College under the direction of the Professor or in such other Zoological Laboratory as the Professor may direct The Student must not without the consent of the Delegacy upon the recommendation of the Professor of Zoology undertake any other work In no case will permission be granted to the Student to hold any appoint- ment or appointments that will occupy more than ten hours week The subject of research must be approved by the Professor of Zoology of King's College In any publication of results obtained during the tenure of the Studentship it shall be stated that the author is or was Harold Row Research Student of King's College RABBETH AND OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS IN ANATOMY OR PHYSIOLOGY The first of these Scholarships was founded in 1885 by John Edward Rabbeth of Middleton Lodge Putney in memory of Samuel Rabbeth Lond distinguished former student of the School and Medical Faculty who sacrificed his life in an attempt to save child who was dying from diphtheria Scholarship of £54 for four terms will be offered annually to enable student who has passed the Second Medical examination to read for the Sc Special degree in Anatomy or Physiology The recommendations for the award will be based on the work for the Second Medical examination in King's College The payments will be made in four equal instalments provided the Scholar continues in attendance as regular student in the selected course and produces to the Secretary at the end of each term certificate of good conduct and satisfactory progress signed by the Heads of the Departments in which the course is held The Delegacy offers two additional Scholarships each of £54 for four terms on the same terms and conditions as the Rabbeth Scholarship BERRIDGE STUDENTSHIPS The Studentships were founded in 1925 on the occasion of the closing of the Bacteriology and Public Health Department and to commemorate the fact that this Department founded in 1898 by Professor Ε Crookshank was the first Academic Department of Public Health in this country The funds are provided partly from the Berridge Estate and Trust Endowment and partly from the Devignes Legacy the balance being met from general College funds
