King's College London was founded in 1829 by Royal Charter and was re-incorporated by Act of Parliament in 1882 The following is an extract from the Royal Charter as amended by the College Act of Parliament 1882 Sec Purposes of the College The College shall continue as body politic and corporate for the purpose of giving instruction in the various branches of Literature and Science and the doctrines and duties of Christianity as the same are inculcated by the Church of England shall be taught in the College under the superintendence of Principal and Head Master Professors and Tutors and such other Masters and Instructors as shall from time to time be appointed in the manner hereafter mentioned The following Prayer is offered daily in Term in the College Chapel Almighty God the Fountain of wisdom and the Giver of every perfect gift without whom nothing is strong nothing is holy Send down we beseech Thee Thy blessing upon this College and prosper the designs of its founders Enable us by Thy grace faithfully to discharge the duties of our several stations remembering the solemn account which we must one day give before the judgment-seat of Christ More par- ticularly we pray that the seeds of Learning Virtue and Religion here sown may bring forth fruit abundantly to Thy glory and the benefit of our fellow creatures These and all other blessings for them and for us we humbly ask in the name and through the mediation of Jesus Christ Thy Son our Lord -Amen The College Grace God be praised for all His mercies God preserve the Church the Queen and King's College and grant His grace for evermore -Amen DATES OF TERMS SESSION 1963-64 Michaelmas Term Wed Oct to Wed Dec 11 1963 Lent Term Wed Jan to Wed Mar 18 1964 Easter Term Wed Apr 22 to Wed July 1964 Ash Wednesday Feb 12 Easter Day March 29 Whitsunday May 17 SESSION 1964-65 Michaelmas Term Wed Oct to Wed Dec 16 1964 Lent Term Wed Jan 13 to Wed Mar 24 1965 Easter Term Wed Apr 28 to Wed July 1965
