OF THE COUNCIL Staff As announced in the last report the Reverend Canon Evans Lightfoot Professor of Divinity in the University of Durham had been appointed by the Senate and the Delegacy to be the new Professor of New Testament Studies During the year under review the Senate and the Council appointed to the Council's professorship in the field of Historical Theology the Reverend Eric Lionel Mascall Student of Christ Church and Lecturer in the Philosophy of Religion in the University of Oxford The Reverend Jasper Lecturer in Liturgiology was recognized as teacher by the University and elected to the Theological Professorial Board The Reverend Derek William Allen resigned after only two years as Sub-Warden of the Hostel and Lecturer in Divinity on his appointment as Principal of St Stephen's House Oxford The Council expressed its appreciation of the distinguished service of Mr Allen as pastor and teacher In his place the Council appointed the Reverend Richard James Coggins Exeter College Oxford who had been tutor at St Stephen's House since 1957 The Council received with deep regret the news of the death at such an early age of the Reverend Kelly The Reverend Owen Lecturer in the History and Philosophy of Religion received recognition by the University and Miss Morna Hooker was appointed full-time lecturer after her year as temporary lecturer Members of the Faculty of Theology have contributed the following publications and articles during the session Professor Ackroyd Revision of articles in Chambers's Encyclopaedia Continuity Inaugural Lecture Blackwell 1962 Hosea Haggai Zechariah in The New Peake Commentary 1962 Knight's Christian Theology of the Old Testament' Expository Times March 1962 Survey of Old Testament Literature Theology August 1962 The Message of Amos Learning for Living September 1962 British Editor Our Living Bible Oldbourne Press 1962 Reviews Genesis by von Rad Expository Times October 1961 Beligion of the Old Testament by Pfeiifer Expository Times March 1962 Ancient Israel by de Vaux Expository Times May 1962 Studies in the Bible ed by Ch Rabin Scripta Hierosolymitana Bulletin of Oriental and African Studies Vol 25 No
