THE THEOLOGICAL DEPARTMENT of KING'S COLLEGE LONDON UNIVERSITY OF LONDON ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COUNCIL FOR THE SESSION 1961-62 presented to the COURT of the COLLEGE Council and Corporation The Council has met three times in joint session with the Theological Committee The new Bishop of London the Right Reverend Robert Wright Stop- ford was welcomed by the Council when he presided over their meeting for the first time on November 30th 1961 During the year the Treasurer Mr Sidney John Marsh underwent serious operation which led to his decision to resign from the office which he had held for eleven years The Council was glad that he had recovered his health sufficiently to attend the meeting on July 12th 1962 when the following expression of gratitude was moved formally Mr Marsh was appointed Member of the Council of King's College in February 1944 In July 1949 he was appointed Deputy Treasurer and Treasurer in July 1951 on the resignation of Mr Clifford Johnston For eleven years Mr Marsh has presided with ability and success over the financial affairs of the Council and on this occasion when he retires from his office the Council wish to place on record their sense of gratitude to Mr Marsh Whether Warminster or the Hostel at Vincent Square or the Department at College has been concerned Mr Marsh has invariably placed at the disposal of his colleagues his great expertise and experience in financial matters with directness and an understanding that have been of the greatest value The Council look forward to having for many years to come the advantage of his continued presence as member of their body The Council elected as the new Treasurer Mr David Alan Hunter Johnston Investment Manager of the Central Board of Finance of the
