210 REGULATIONS FOR THE COLLEGE DIPLOMA IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING The Diploma in Chemical Engineering is awarded by the Delegacy of King's College on the recommendation of the Chemical Engineering Committee nominated by the Professorial Board Examinations for the Diploma are held once year in the month of June The Regula- tions under which the Certificate is granted are as follows It is condition of entry to the course for the Diploma that candidate shall be graduate who has obtained science degree with Chemistry as principal subject or an engineer- ing degree or diploma and has reached the Intermediate standard in Chemistry of the London University or such qualification as shall be deemed by the Committee equivalent to the above candidate for the Diploma must have pursued his studies in Chemical Engineering as Regular Student in the Faculty of Engineering for not less than three terms candidate must satisfy the Chemical Engineering Committee as to his conduct attendance and progress in the courses for each of the subjects which he is required to attend Unless exempted as below candidate must pass examinations in the following subjects Fuel Technology Materials and Structures Mechanics of Fluids Mechanics of Machines Heat and Thermodynamics Engineering Drawing Electrical Technology General Theoretical Chemistry Inorganic and Physical Principles of Organic Chemistry Chemical Engineering operations and processes including the general principles of factory organisation and manage- ment in chemical works candidate must work Home Paper dealing with project for the design and layout of chemical plant candidate must carry out practical work in the laboratory and submit report on selected topic involving the design con- struction and operation of apparatus Students who have previously studied any of the above subjects may apply to the Chemical Engineering Committee for exemption from the course and examination therein INSTITUTION OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERS The Diploma course in Chemical Engineering at King's College is recognised by the Institution of Chemical Engineers and with certain reservations relating to experience etc the Diploma carries exemption from the Associate Membership examination of the Institution Students are advised to apply for admission to Student Membership of the Institution of Chemical Engineers on commencing the course
