186 FACULTY OF ENGINEERING Students desiring to apply for any exemption in respect of courses of study or of examination must apply to the University through the authorities of King's College The Examination The examination for the degree of Sc Eng consists of three parts namely Part Part II and Part III In each part candidate is required to reach minimum aggregate mark and normally to pass in every subject but moderate weakness may be accepted without penalty provided there is sufficient merit elsewhere in his record in the examina- tion In addition to the written papers candidate may be tested by oral questions Parti candidate is eligible to take the Part examination after having satisfactorily attended the approved course for one academic year The subjects of Part are as follows Mathematics Materials and Structures Mechanics of Fluids Electrical Technology Engineering Drawing Mechanics of Machines Heat and Thermodynamics The Part examination consists of four-hour paper in Engineering Drawing two three-hour papers in Mathematics and one three-hour paper in every other subject In each subject except Mathematics the examination includes the assessment of course-work The Board of Examiners may refer candidate at Part in not more than one subject He may re-enter for that subject at sub- sequent Part examination candidate who fails in the referred subject but satisfies the examiners in Part II will be credited with Part II and allowed to complete Part by passing in the referred subject at some future examination for Part Part II candidate who has passed the Part examination or has been referred in one subject under Section and who has completed the entry requirements under Section may proceed to Part II and may take the Part II examination after having satisfactorily attended the approved course for one academic year
