CLASSES 157 ZOOLOGY Head of the Department Donald Ramsay Arthur Sc Ph Sc Biol I-Ancillary Courses Courses are provided which are ancillary to main courses in Botany or Geology One-year Ancillary Zoology Z1-As and A8 below with some additional lectures Two-year Ancillary Zoology lst year and A8 2nd year A9 and A4 H-B Sc Special Students are required to take either one two-year or two one-year ancillary subjects chosen from the list on page 145 At King's College the two-year ancillary course will normally be preferred First two Sessions -Lectures hrs Aj-Practical Class hrs -Lectures Up to hrs week A4-Practical Class Up to 12 hrs week -Seminar One week Third Session Students specialise in Cell Physiology Parasitology Entomology Embryology Marine Biology Ecology or Genetics Particular emphasis is placed on Cell Physiology and on Parasitology A5-Lectures Up to hrs week Ae-Practical Class 18 hrs week -Seminar One week Ill-Field Work Members of the staff conduct classes lasting for about week in the Easter or Summer vacation These deal both with marine and with terrestrial including fresh-water fauna All students are expected to avail themselves of the instruction given Occasional week-end expeditions are also arranged in term time IV-Postgraduate Work Students are accepted to undertake research leading to the degrees of Sc and Ph in various fields including Parasitology Entomology Embryology Behaviour Palaeozoology Animal Physiology and Cell Physiology
