140 FACULTY OF NATURAL SCIENCE COURSES OF STUDY The Faculty provides systematic courses of study in Science suitable for students preparing for the Internal Degrees of the University of London Students are admitted as either Regular or Occasional students Regular students are those taking full-time courses and paying the Composition Fee of their Faculty Occasional students are those paying only the fees for the separate classes attended they are normally expected to attend at least four hours week Only applicants who are qualified to begin their Sc degree course can be admitted They may read for either the Sc General or the Sc Special degree All courses are planned on three-year basis and under the revised regulations of the University Successful candidates at the Sc Special examination are awarded first class honours second class honours upper or lower division or third class honours The Sc General pass list is classified into first class honours second class honours upper and lower divisions and pass candidate for admission will be required to show evidence of ability to profit by the course For further information about particular Special Degree courses reference should be made to the later pages dealing with the different departments in the Faculty Applicants are asked to note carefully the ancillary subjects required for Special Degree courses and to state their choice on their application forms The attention of students is called to the General College Rules see Table of Contents Applications fob Admission Applicants from the United Kingdom seeking admission to the under- graduate courses are advised to consult the booklet Getting into University issued to schools and others by the Universities Central Council on Admissions 29 Tavistock Square London Applica- tion forms will be available in schools from the beginning of the autumn term 1963 One form will suffice for all the universities and colleges served by this Council and must be returned completed to the Council before December 31st Only applicants who have left school should write to the Central Office for form The form will be accompanied by full instructions for completing it All subsequent correspondence with the College concerning entry should be sent direct to the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Science in the case of men and to the Tutor to Women Students in the case of women and should clearly indicate the appli- cant's serial number and any course or courses for which application has been made
