80 PRIZES McCAUL HEBREW AND OLD TESTAMENT PRIZES The friends and former pupils of the Reverend Alexander McCaul presented to the College the sum of £250 for the purpose of founding Prizes which should bear his name The Prizes consist of Books of the value of £20 and £10 respec- tively The Senior Prize is open to all graduates and Associates of the College who have studied in the College for not less than two sessions and are not of more than three years' standing since taking their degree or Associateship in the College The Junior Prize is open to regular students of all Faculties of the College who have completed two years as regular students No student may obtain either of these prizes second time but Junior Prizeman may compete for the Senior Prize subsequently if otherwise qualified The Examination for the Senior Prize will be held at the end of the Lent term There will be two papers Translation from the canonical books of the Old Testament Grammar and Composition ii Theology and Criticism of the canonical books of the Old Testament The Examination for the Junior Prize will be held in the Lent term There will be two papers One on the sections ic and iic of the syllabus in Hebrew for the final examinations of the University of London ii The second paper will contain an unseen passage of Hebrew for translation into English and an unseen passage for translation from English into Hebrew Members of Faculties other than that of Theology who enter for these Prizes must send their names to the Secretary of the College not later than December 31st CALDECOTT PHILOSOPHY PRIZE Fund was raised in 1918 by the friends colleagues and pupils of the Rev Prebendary Alfred Caldecott on his retirement from the office of Dean to commemorate his great services to King's College during the previous 26 years and on his request was devoted to the foundation of Prize in Philosophy The Prize which is of the value of £35 is offered once in every two years It is for an English Essay on some subject falling within the scope of the Philosophy or of the Psychology of Religion The College may assign subject for the Essay or it may invite qualified Graduates or Associates to submit subjects upon which they may desire to work
