OF THE COUNCIL Barry Prizes were awarded as follows Faculty of Arts Leech Miss Moore Faculty of Engineering Faculty of Medicine Faculty of Science Parsons Lindgren Bridge Benefactions The Council has received from the Central Board of Finance of the Church of England the most generous gift of £10 000 towards the endow- ment of professorship of Moral and Social Theology The family of the late Bishop John Wordsworth has kindly given unreservedly to the College the collection of books from his Library which have been housed here since 1916 Income and Expenditure Account The income from fees amounted to £10 782 Salaries of both the teaching and administrative staff were increased during the session Departmental expenses were higher partly owing to larger grant for the library and maintenance costs came to more than in 1959-60 As consequence the year's working showed surplus of £2 091 compared with surplus of £4 434 last year Corporation General Fund Account Income was received from the usual sources and after meeting expenses the account showed surplus of £1 026 which will be trans- ferred to the Special Reserve Fund King's College Hostel On July 31st 1960 net surplus of £527 was carried forward During 1960-61 vacation lettings brought in £2 892 compared with £2 065 in 1959-60 The total income for 1960-61 was £14 270 com- pared with £13 116 last year Expenditure was £14 082 compared with £12 959 last year The annual provision for Repairs and Decorations has been raised to £1 200 and against this figure there was an expenditure of £1 172 Finance Income
