vi ANNUAL REPORT Dr Stokes was promoted to be Senior Lecturer in Physics Dr Silvester was promoted to be Assistant Lecturer in Bio- physics Faculty of Medical Science -Mr Wilson Lecturer in Pharmaco- logy Dr Mary Whittaker Lecturer in Biochemistry Mr Vernon- Roberts Junior Lecturer in Anatomy Mr Birmingham Junior Lecturer in Pharmacology Mr Winterton Junior Lecturer in Physiology Dr Bilbey Sub-Dean of the Faculty and Honorary Medical Officer to the College from October 1st 1960 Dr Κ Blau was promoted to be Lecturer in Biochemistry Faculty of Engineering -Mr Tindal Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering from January 1st 1961 Mr Κ Nash was promoted to be Professor of Civil Engineering Dr Η Rose was promoted to be Professor of Powder Technology Dr Zarek was promoted to be Reader in Engineering Science Mr Watkins was promoted to be Reader in Chemical Engineering Mr Pattison was promoted to be Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering King's College Hall -Mr Courtney Warden Mr Watling Sub- Warden Halliday Hall -Mr Perkins Sub-Warden deaths of former members of the college The deaths of the following were reported during the session Fellows Sir Frederick Butler who died on March 30th 1961 aged 87 He was elected to the Delegacy in 1933 and was Treasurer from 1940 to 1950 His services to the College particularly during the difficult war and post-war years were of immeasurable value and he will long be remembered for his charm and kindliness The Reverend Hatch died on July 12th 1961 He obtained his and Ph degrees from the College and was elected Fellow in 1938 The Reverend Dr Hollis died on August 31st 1961 He was on the staff of the Theological Department from 1921 to 1945 was appointed Lecturer in Hebrew in the Faculty of Arts in 1927 and was elected Fellow in 1931 Former Staff Professor Britton who graduated from the College and was later an Assistant Lecturer in the Chemistry department Subsequently he was Professor of Chemistry at the University of Exeter
