COURSES OF STUDY 181 at Advanced Level Sc Engineering Degree-Revised Regulations Revised University Regulations in force from October 1960 Entrance Requirements and Exemptions Before admission to the course an applicant must satisfy not only the University's general requirements in accordance with the Regulations but also the University's additional requirements for entry to the course of study for the degree of Sc Engineering To comply with these additional requirements an applicant must have passed in the following subjects at General Certificate of Education Examination or approved equivalent Mathematics Pure and Applied ii Physics iii Chemistry at Ordinary or Advanced Level or alternatively Pure Mathematics ו ii Applied Mathematics at Advanced Level iii Physics iv Chemistry at Ordinary or Advanced Level In exceptional circumstances student of outstanding ability may be admitted to the course of study for the Sc Eng Degree provided that he has passed in either Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and one other subject at Advanced Level or Mathematics Pure and Applied and two other subjects at Advanced Level and provided that he has sufficient background to enable him to follow profitably the course of study for Part of the examination An applicant who has satisfied minimum entrance requirements and has passed at Advanced Level in three of the subjects Pure Mathe- matics Applied Mathematics Physics and Chemistry or who has been accepted under the Regulations for Advanced students may be per- mitted to begin the course of study for the Sc Eng Degree and to complete the qualification for admission during the course for Part of the Final examination If student who is permitted to present himself for the completion of the qualification required for entry on the course concurrently with the Part examination fails to complete the qualification he will not be notified of the result of his candidature at the Part examination These requirements are based on passes in subjects at the London examination statements of the equivalence of subjects in other examinations are set out in appendices in the leaflet Regulations relating to University Entrance Requirements obtainable from The Secretary to the University Entrance Requirements Department University of London Senate House Malet Street London An applicant who has satisfied minimum entrance requirements and has passed an Inter- mediate examination of any University in Great Britain or Northern Ireland or such other Universities as may be approved for this purpose in the appropriate subjects may apply for admission as an Internal Student and for permission to proceed to the Sc Eng degree
