176 FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE PHYSIOLOGY Head of the Department Professor D'Silva Ph Sc The following courses of instruction are given General course of Lectures in Physiology lst year Michaelmas Lent and Easter terms 2nd year Michaelmas and Lent terms The course of lectures on Physiology which lasts five terms deals with the subject systematically and with those aspects of the subject which are closely allied to Medicine and Surgery The lectures are supplemented by tutorial classes The systematic course of lectures for Dental Students lasts three terms and is supplemented by tutorial classes Practical Physiology Each student medical or dental must provide himself with set of minor accessory instruments Tutorial Classes Michaelmas Lent and Easter terms Physiology Ancillary to Sc Special Zoology Students following one-year ancillary course or the first year of two-year ancillary course take the general course of lectures in Physiology lst year Michaelmas Lent and Easter terms Second year students reading two-year ancillary course take the general course of lectures in Physiology 2nd year Michaelmas and Lent terms Practical Physiology Sc Special Degree in Physiology Special facilities are given to selected medical students who wish to take this degree which they may do on completion of their 2nd examination and before they commence their hospital work This course in which several of the other Schools of the University take part is recommended to those who are likely later to seek appointments in the many allied branches of medical science Students taking this course should make themselves acquainted with the syllabus and regulations which may be found in the University Red Book The following points should be noted
