174 FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE CLASSES ANATOMY Head of the Department Professor Nicol Sc The following courses of instruction are given Junior Lecture Course Michaelmas term An introductory course dealing with the principles of the Skeletal Muscular Vascular and other systems Neurology Lent and Easter terms course devoted to the Central Nervous Systems and the Organs of special sense Human Embryology Easter Michaelmas and Lent terms Histology Lectures and practical classes Michaelmas Lent and Easter terms Practical Anatomy The Dissecting Room is open from to daily except Saturday when it is closed at midday The Practical Course is conducted under the supervision of the Professor assisted by the Readers and Lecturers Students undergo periodical examination on the part they are dissecting Demonstrations in Regional Anatomy and Tutorial Classes in Oste- ology are conducted in each term Students are required to attend only the demonstrations and tutorial classes dealing with the parts they are dissecting In their fifth term they attend if possible all the demonstrations Examinations -Class examinations are held at intervals Sc Special in Human Anatomy and Morphology Special courses of instruction will be provided for approved medical students who may wish to take this degree One year's further study is required after completing the 2nd examination and before commencing hospital work Particulars of the work to be covered and other important information regarding registration etc are given in the University Regulations Anatomy for Dental Students This course is designed to meet the requirements of the Second Ex- animation in Dental Surgery of the University of London and the First Examination for the Licence in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons The course includes series of lectures and demonstrations and dissection of the Head and Neck Thorax and Abdomen Courses in Special Dental Anatomy and Histology are also given in the Michael- mas Lent and Easter terms
