168 FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE 3Q PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION The selection of candidates for admission to the Faculty of Medical Science of King's College is conducted in conjunction with the Medical Schools of its three associated hospitals Men and women wishing to attend King's College for training in the basic medical sciences should apply direct to the hospital of their choice King's College Hospital St George's Hospital Westminster Hospital Prospectuses and application forms of these Hospitals may be obtained free and post free from the Secretary of the Medical School of each Hospital Selected applicants for admission to the Degree course of the University of London at King's College and at any one of the associated hospitals will be interviewed by Committee consisting of representatives of the College and of the Hospital Medical School PERIOD OF STUDY The period of study in the Faculty of Medical Science at King's College extends over five terms for medical students and three terms for dental students Basic medical training in Anatomy Physiology Biochemistry and Pharmacology is provided At the completion of those studies the Second Examination for Medical Degrees or the Second Examination in Dental Surgery is normally taken Instruction in the subjects of the Preclinical Dental curriculum is given only in Anatomy and Physiology The courses of study for Practical Dental Mechanics and for the Final Examination are taken at King's College Hospital Dental School Intending Dental Students should in the first place apply to King's College Hospital Medical School Students are allowed two attempts at the Second Medical Examina- tion and at the Second Examination in Dental Surgery if unsuccessful at the second attempt they are normally required to withdraw from the College STUDENTS' ATTENDANCES The Dean of the Faculty reserves to himself the right in cases where he is not satisfied with the attendances or work of any student in lectures practical classes or class examinations to refuse to authorise the signing of the student's examination schedule student whose progress or conduct has been unsatisfactory may be refused re-admission to the College at the commencement of any term See the General College Rules
