COURSES OF STUDY 99 The University's Additional Requirements for Entry to Degree Courses in Specified Subjects in the Faculty of Arts In order to be qualified to commence course of study for degree in the Faculty of Arts in any London college an applicant must have satisfied the general requirements of the University by means of sub- jects selected from the approved list of the subjects drawn up by the University moreover two languages other than English at least one of which must be classical language must be included at Ordinary or Advanced Level These conditions are generally referred to as the course requirements Course Requirements of King's College for Direct Entry to Particular Degree Courses in Arts Courses which do not involve Subsidiary Subject Honours Classics Passes at "A" level in Latin and Greek Honours Greek Passes at level in Greek and Latin Honours Latin Passes at "A" level in Latin and one other subject pass at Ο level in Greek Honours English Two passes at A" level one in English the other preferably in Latin or Greek Honours History Passes at "A י level in History and in one other subject Honours Philosophy Two passes at "A" level Honours Mathematics Passes at "Aי' level in Pure Mathematics and in Applied Mathematics taken as separate subjects or their equivalents as set out in the Reguhtions relating to University Entrance Requirements pass at "A" level in one other subject is desirable ii Courses involving Subsidiary Subject Honours French Three subjects at "A" level will be required of which one must be French Applicants who offer only two subjects at "A" level will not be considered save in very exceptional circumstances Latin at "A" level is distinct advantage in preparing for the Honours degree in French and preference will normally be given to applicants having this qualification Honours German pass at "A" level in German and in one other subject preference will be given to applicants having third at "A" level and particularly to applicants with Advanced level Latin Honours Portuguese Two passes at "A" level as the Classical language required by the University at Ο level Latin will be pre- ferred Honours Spanish Passes at "A" level in Spanish and in one other subject preferably Latin Honours Geography pass at "A" level in Geography and in one other subject Given in the Regulations Relating to University Entrance Requirements issued by the Uni- versity Entrance Requirements Department University of London Senate House It is very comprehensive and includes for example certain Science subjects but it does not in- elude English Language Economic History or British Constitution
