90 PRIZES-ENGINEERING ENGINEERING SOCIETY CENTENARY PRIZES These Prizes were founded as the result of an appeal to commemorate the Centenary of the King's College Engineering Society in 1947 The fund was established by contributions from members of the Old Students' Assosiation Engineering Branch now the King's College London Engineers' Association with generous donations from Sir Harry Railing and Mr Brierley The Prizes consist of books or instruments to value to be deter- mined annually One or more Prizes may be awarded each year to the student or students who shall have shown most distinction at the Part III examination after three sessions as regular students of the Faculty of Engineering TAYLOR WOODROW PRIZE The Taylor Woodrow Charity Trust provides the sum of £50 annually for the award of prize or prizes under the following conditions The award shall be made to students in the second year of the course for the Sc Engineering degree One student shall be chosen from the Civil Engineering group and one from the Mechanical Engineering group If in any year there is in the opinion of the Professors concerned only one student in the two groups who merits the prize the whole amount of the prize may be given to that student The winners of the award shall be selected on grounds of out- standing personality and character The prize shall be used to defray part or the whole of the expenses incurred during period spent outside the British Isles during the long vacation at the end of the second session of study in place or places where experience of some field of Civil or Mechanical Engin- eering practice may be obtained student who is offered the prize shall sign statement declaring that he accepts the conditions of the award Provided this statement has been signed the prize money may be paid over to the student before he intends to begin his journey Every student who obtains an award of the prize shall submit to the Head of his Department report on the use he has made of the prize money
