PRIZES-MEDICAL SCIENCE 93 ALFRED HUGHES MEMORIAL PRIZE This Prize was founded in 1902 by his friends and colleagues in memory of Alfred William Hughes Professor of Anatomy from 1897 to 1900 The Prize consists of instruments or books of value of about £5 The Prize will be awarded annually to the regular student who during the second year of study in Anatomy shall have most dis- tinguished himself in that subject at the Class Examinations HARE PRIZE This Prize was founded in 1917 by George Hare in memory of his son Stanley Grant Hare former student of the Medical Science Faculty who fell at the head of his Platoon in the charge against the Turks at Gaza April 1917 The Prize consists of books or instruments to the value of £2 10s The conditions of award of this Prize are being revised INCHLEY PRIZE IN PHARMACOLOGY This Prize was founded in 1925 by Dr Orlando Inchley Head of the Department of Pharmacology The Prize consists of books or instruments to the value of £5 The Prize is open to all regular medical students who within two years of passing the First Examination for Medical Degrees or the Pre-Medical Examination of the Conjoint Board have completed the College course in Pharmacology The Prize will be awarded annuaעy upon the results of the Class Examination in Pharmacology DR JOHN PICKERING PRIZES IN BIOCHEMISTRY One Prize was founded in 1936 by Dr John William Pickering Fellow of the College and Honorary Lecturer in Hsematology its value was increased by legacy received in 1949 under his will Two prizes will be offered annually first prize and second prize consisting of books or instruments to the value of £10 and £5 respectively The prizes will be awarded annually to the regular students who during the second year of study in Biochemistry have most distinguished themselves in that subject at the Class Examinations
