84 PRIZES-THEOLOGY ELOCUTION PRIZE This Prize was founded by the Council in 1933 The Prize of the value of £1 10 is awarded annually on the result of competition The Prize is open to students in the second year of the course Every Candidate must produce Certificate from the Lecturer in Elocution of satisfactory attendance at the Elocution Classes or of exemption by him from such attendance ii of competence in reading list of approved candidates will be drawn up by the Lecturer in the Lent term of each session and the Examination will be held in the Easter term SHELFORD PRIZE Founded by the will of Mrs Alice Mary Shelford who died on April 12th 1950 and left £400 to provide prizes or otherwise for the assistance and encouragement of theological students of King's College London as memorial to her late husband the Reverend Leonard Edmund Shelford The Prize or Prizes will consist of books to the value of about £12 The Prizes will be awarded to the Final Year student or students who in the opinion of the Head of the Department of the Philosophy of Religion shall have shown the best performance in this subject through- out their course in College TINNISWOOD PRIZE Founded in 1958 by the gift of £200 from the Reverend William Robert Tinniswood in memory of his father who was formerly student in the Civil Service Department The interest on the capital will be used for prize on some general theological subject The Prize will be offered annually on the Essay paper in the examination for third year students The Prize may be withheld in any one year in which no essay of sufficient merit is submitted COUNCIL PRIZE IN CHURCH HISTORY This Prize was founded by the Council in 1961 The Prize will be to the value of £5 The Prize will be awarded to the student gaining the highest marks in the two papers one compulsory and one optional on Church History at the final examination
