70 SCHOLARSHIPS VI-IN THE FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE warneford medical scholarships Entrance Scholarships The Rev Samuel Wilson Warneford LL in November 1861 presented to the College the sum of Five Thousand Pounds for the foundation of Medical Scholarships The Regulations may be revised from time to time provided that under no circumstances shall any alteration be made by which the regulations as to the examination and proficiency of the candidates in Divinity or as to the character of the holder of any scholarship shall be made less stringent than heretofore laid down The Scholarships are administered by the Council and the regulations at present in force are the following The Scholarships are of the value of £200 payable in five yearly instalments of £40 and one is offered for competition each year The Scholarships are offered for competition to candidates men or women preparing to enter the Faculty of Medical Science in the following October The subjects for examination are Divinity the General English paper and three of the following -English History Latin Greek French German Pure Mathematics Applied Mathematics Pure-and- Applied Mathematics Chemistry Physics Botany Zoology Biology Candidates offering Botany or Zoology may not offer Biology also Candidates offering Pure Mathematics or Applied Mathematics may not offer Pure-and-Applied Mathematics also An equal number of marks is allotted to each subject The holders of these Scholarships must pursue their pre-clinical studies at King's College and their clinical studies at King's College Hospital The holders of these Scholarships are required to attend the weekly Lecture in Divinity given for all non-Theological Students at an hour reserved for this purpose and to pass such examinations or other tests in the subjects of the Lectures as the Lecturers may from time to time require The fulfilment of these conditions will also qualify the candidate for the Associateship of the College if he graduates in the University Before the payment of the emoluments of Scholarship the Principal and the Dean must receive on behalf of the Scholar certificate of good conduct and satisfactory progress ii of regular attendance at the Divinity and Medical Lectures and Examinations
