GENERAL INFORMATION 57 Intercollegiate debate Commemoration Service is held in the College Chapel In 1949 the College gave the Union Society the first four floors of the Chesham Hotel in Surrey Street These were furnished and equipped as the Union Society premises and provide Refectory and Bar tele- vision mixed lounges common rooms and offices The venture proved an immediate success and the Chesham is firmly established as the home of the Union Publications The official handbook setting out the rules and constitution of the Society together with information regarding all Clubs and Societies is issued to members at the beginning of each session Lucifer King's College Review the literary magazine is published once term and King's News which is of social character appears fortnightly Contributions for both periodicals are invited from members Athletic Ground The Athletic Ground at Mitcham was purchased by the War Memorial Committee as part of the College Memorial of the 1914-18 war and was brought into use at the beginning of 1921 Three large army huts were used as temporary pavilion accommoda- tion until 1931 when the present permanent pavilion was erected and the Pavilion Fund instituted to repay the debt incurred in the building certain sum at present £250 is set aside annually by the Union Society for this Fund and it is hoped to complete repayment by 1964 KING'S COLLEGE LONDON ASSOCIATION President Sir Ivison Macadam Mech Chairman Edwards Sc ז π Shaw Jomt Hon Treasurers ע gM1TH AQA Hon Secretary White LL Engineering Branch the King's College London Engineers' Associa- tion President Reid Sc Eng Hon Secretary Buckley Sc Eng Mech Laws Branch President Edward Clarke Joint Hon Secretaries Gill LL and Davies Membership is open to all past students who have been members of the College for at least three terms while regular students who satis- factorily complete an approved course for degree diploma or certificate
