OF THE COUNCIL Vll The sermon at the Whit-Tuesday Reunion was preached by the Right Reverend William Wand and in the afternoon talk on the concept and practice of Episcope was given by the Bishop of Woolwich the Right Reverend Robinson As way of marking the significant development made possible in the Faculty of Theology by the University in appointing new Professors course of lectures has been arranged by Professor Nineham on the subject The Church's Use of the Bible-Past and Present During the session the following lectures in the series were given Dr Barrett The Bible in the New Testament Period Dr Chadwick The Bible and the Greek Fathers Dr Kelly The Bible and the Latin Fathers Dr Beryl Smalley The Bible in the Middle Ages King's College Hostel The most important feature of the year has been the purchase of the freehold of this vital part of our establishment from the Church Com- missioners Redecoration has included the Chapel and the basement corridor which had received no attention since before the War Miss Rope continues to secure vacation lettings but cannot control last- minute cancellations so that the income from this source has again fallen below expectation The Council decided that Hostel fees must be raised by £5 to £150 per annum During the last two years the influence and example of the Reverend Green as Sub-Warden has been of very special value to men who though still undergraduates are necessarily also looking towards their priestly ministry in which their studies will find fulfilment His scholarship and his spirituality in combination have won for him respect affection and gratitude Warminster What began as an experiment in 1948 has now become so essential to the life and work of King's as College where ordinands are trained for the Ministry that our continuation as tenants of the buildings of St Boniface College on leases renewed every five years has been felt to be less and less satisfactory The Warden has always looked forward to the day when our relationship with the Council of St Boniface College would be one of partnership in which the traditions of the former missionary college would be taken up into our fourth-year course and we would be accepted by St Boniface College as the heirs of their tradition This wish has now been fulfilled The celebration on July 22nd 1960 of the centenary of the Missionary College was also the occasion for the start of new lease of the buildings to King's College for forty-two years and the setting up of St Boniface Missionary College bursaries and studentship of which details are to be found in the College Calendar More than 100 old students of the old and new
