iv annual report and the Finance Committee The staff of the Theological Department have elected to the Council Miss Edwards Tutor to the Women Theological Students and Associates of King's College have elected Mr McCombie Sc Eng Mech in place of Mr Faultless Sc Eng Mech whose term of office had expired During the year the Dean of King's College the Reverend Evans was appointed an honorary canon of Southwark Cathedral Fellowship The Right Reverend James Herbert Lloyd Morrell Bishop of Lewes and Canon Albert John Trillo Principal of Bishops' College Cheshunt both old students of the College were elected to the Fellowship of King's College Staff The University of London has conferred the degree of Doctor of Divinity on the Reverend Ulrich Ernst Simon Reader in Theology in respect particularly of his book Heaven in the Christian Tradition Professor William Duff McHardy Samuel Davidson Professor of Old Testament Studies in the University of London from 1948 has been elected to the Regius Chair of Hebrew in the University of Oxford Dr McHardy was always welcome in the Senior Common Room of which he was member and at meetings of the Professorial Board The Council expresses its appreciation of the benefits which students of the College have received from his teaching during the twelve years that he has held the Chair After seven years as Chaplain of King's College the Reverend John Howard Churchill left in July to become Vicar of St George's Sheffield parish which includes within its borders most of Sheffield University Mr Churchill was well known throughout the College both to students and staff and was indefatigable in his pastoral concern for individuals and groups The Council placed on record its appreciation of the out- standing service which Mr Churchill had given to the whole College during his time as Chaplain The Council lost the services of an able young scholar when the Reverend Humphrey Christian Green left to join the Community of the Resurrection at Mirfield and expressed appreciation of his work The Council during the session appointed as Chaplain of King's College the Reverend Peter Everard Coleman LL who after reading Law at King's studied Theology at Cambridge was curate at St Francis Ashton Gate Bristol and latterly one of the London Associate Secretaries of the Student Christian Movement as lecturer in Theology and Sub-Warden of the Hostel the Reverend Derek William Allen Chaplain of St Stephen's House Oxford as lecturer in Liturgy the Reverend Ronald Claude Dudley Jasper Hist Succentor of Exeter Cathedral
