ANNUAL REPORT liii Ph Μ Sullivan "The comminution of materials with special reference to the processes in tumbling and vibrating mills 8c Eng Fraser study of phase shift network in relation to RC oscillator and amplifier circuits Sc Eng Haque Characteristics of half-wave magnetic amplifiers 'י Sc Eng Harvey Dynamic behaviour of the self- excited series transductor with rectified output Faculty Notes Professor Greig was re-elected Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in the University of London for the period 1960-62 The British Association nominated Professor Greig as delegate to attend the annual meetings of the Pakistan Association for the Advance- ment of Science and of the Indian Science Congress held in January 1960 The two conferences enabled Professor Greig to visit and to lecture in the universities in Hyderabad Bombay and Calcutta and in the Indian Institute of Science at Bangalore He also visited research laboratories and three of the new Indian Institutes of Technology In June he visited the Federal Technical High School in Zurich as member of the London and Home Counties Regional Advisory Council for Technological Education Dr Η Rose was invited to take part in the formation of specialist group for size reduction within the European Federation for Chemical Engineering He was invited by the Fochgruppe Verfahrenstecknik of the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure to present paper on vibration milling at conference at Bad Godesburg and by the Fochgrupper Staubtechnik to participate in conference at Vienna He presented paper on vibration milling to meeting of the Institution of Chemical Engineers Mr Κ Nash was re-elected to the Council of the Institution of Civil Engineers for 1960-61 He is also Chairman of the British National Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering In April he lectured to the Midlands Soil Mechanics Society in Birmingham on The effect of water on the stability of soil Dr Zarek lectured on Biomechanics to the East Midlands branch of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in Leicester and to the Scottish branch in Glasgow and Dundee As delegate of the British Standards Institution he attended meeting of the International Standards Organization on Fluid Measurements and was elected chair- man of the international working group on Pulsating Flow Mr Kenn was Examiner in Hydraulics to the Institution of Civil Engineers for the year 1959-60 Dr Ε Deeley read paper entitled Scanning apparatus for the quantitative estimation of deoxyribosenucleic acid content" to the
