COURSES OF STUDY HI with dates subjects and levels It is especially important to state the name of the Examining Board whose examinations were taken for the General Certificate of Education An applicant who is offered place at another London college before April 30th and who has preference for King's College should not withdraw his application from Kong's without first consulting the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Natural Science Conditions of Entry In order to be qualified for admission to any college of this University an applicant must satisfy the University's minimum entrance require- ments The procedure to be followed is the same for all Faculties and is outlined above under General Information on page 42 For direct entry to courses for the Sc General or Sc Special degrees the satisfaction of the minimum entry requirements must be achieved by passing in appropriate subjects which are listed in the University's pamphlet Regulations reding to University Entrance Requirements obtainable from the Secretary to the University Entrance Requirements Department Senate House London The special requirements at King's College for admission to particular degree courses are set out below They include the direct entry requirements of the University Normal requirements for entry to science degree courses at King's College All Sc degree courses previous knowledge of Mathematics up to Ordinary Level in the General Certificate of Education will be required in all courses Appli- cants for admission will also be required to provide evidence of an adequate knowledge of English and foreign language Sound know- ledge of at least one foreign language is particularly important in the case of students who wish to specialise in Physics or Chemistry where Language Translation Tests are involved The competition for ad- mission to all courses in Science is very keen and applicants who have failed or have not attempted an examination in English and or foreign language are therefore strongly recommended to attempt to qualify before their proposed date of entry to the College otherwise they will be at considerable disadvantage The fact that these qualifications no longer form part of the University's minimum entrance requirements is not intended to imply that the study of languages can be safely ignored In cases where alternative qualifications for entry given in the University Regulations are not quoted in this section it should be assumed that they will not generally apply at King's College
