COURSES OF STUDY 99 subjects drawn up by the University moreover two languages other than English at least one of which must be classical language must be included at Ordinary or Advanced Level At King's College prior consideration will in general be given to those applicants who while satisfying the University's minimum entrance and direct entry requirements pass in at least three subjects at Advanced Level The special requirements in terms of individual subjects for entry to particular departments are set out below Normal Requirements for Entry to Particular Degree Courses Requirements for Classical Language at or Ο יי Level For Entry to Honours Courses The Departments of English History French German and Spanish will normally require passes in three subjects of which one at least must be classical language For History and the Modern Lan- guages Latin will be preferred The Departments of Philosophy Geography and Mathematics will be satisfied with an Ο level pass in classical language These Departments will normally require three passes in all For Honours in Classics the Department of Classics will normally require passes in both Latin and Greek with one other pass For Honours in Latin the Department will require an pass in Latin and will be satisfied with an Ο pass in Greek it will however normally require two other passes in addition to Latin ii For Entry to the General Course The Faculty will be satisfied with an Ο level pass in classical language except where Latin is to be one of the subjects of the degree course In that case an pass in Latin will be required Requirements for Other Subjects at or Ο Level For Entry to Honours Courses Departments will in general require passes both in the main honours subject and also in the subsidiary if there is one when such subjects are included in the list of approved subjects scheduled for the satisfaction of the Minimum Entrance Requirements of the University Exceptions to these requirements may be made where Portuguese is to be the main subject or where either Spanish or Portuguese is to be the subsidiary subject In certain cases beginners in Spanish and Portuguese are accepted for subsidiary courses in those languages Similarly students desiring to take either Geology or Economics as
