78 PRIZES Attention ie drawn to the general rules on page 59 I-IN ALL FACULTIES JELF MEDALS AND JELF PRIZE The Endowment was established in 1868 by his friends and col- leagues to commemorate the services rendered to the College by the Rev Richard Jelf who retired in that year from the office of Principal which he had held since 1844 Medals are awarded one in each of the Faculties of Arts Laws Natural Science Medical Science and Engineering to the students who shall in the view of the Principal have most distinguished them- selves during their undergraduate course in the College provided that in the case of the Faculty of Medical Science the student shall have been in attendance for at least eight terms and in the case of all other Facilities for at least nine terms In making the awards regard will be had not only to the students' academic proficiency but also to their prominence in the social and athletic activities of the College In the Faculty of Theology Jelf Prize is awarded to the student who having been at least three years in the College shall in the opinion of the Dean of King's College have most distinguished himself in the Faculty The Prize consists of books to the value of Ā£3 II-IN THE FACULTY OF THEOLOGY A-Prizes open to all Regular Students of the College BARRY PRIZES The Barry Prizes in Divinity were founded by the friends and former pupils of the Right Rev Alfred Barry formerly Principal of King's College Prizes are now offered in the Faculties of Theology Arts Laws Natural Science Medical Science and Engineering These Prizes are administered by the Council and the regulations at present in force are the following Each Prize consists of books to the value of 325 6d The Prizo in the Faculty of Theology is open to all regular students and is given to the student who passes with most distinction in the Examination in the Prayer-book at the close of the Easter term In the Faculties of Arts Laws Natural Science Medical Science and Engineering five prizes will be offered annually to the regular students who have attended satisfactorily the general Theological Lectures open to all students of the College and who in the opinion of the Dean of King's College have obtained the best results in the
