iv ANNUAL REPORT College in 1934 she became Lecturer in the English department and from then until the present day she has taught Old and Middle English to Honours and General students She was mainstay of the depart- ment at Bristol during the war when as always she was unflagging in her devotion to the College and in her generous and sympathetic interest in her students For many years Miss Mack has been working on an important Middle English text The Ancren Riwle and she hopes to finish this research during her retirement The Delegacy will want to join in wishing Dr Mack every success in this undertaking and in thanking her for her long and loyal service to the College to express their heartfelt good wishes to her for her retirement Dr Tribe -" Miss Margaret Tribe Sc was appointed Demonstrator in the department of Zoology in King's College in 1918 and in the following year when she gained her Doctorate in Science she was appointed Lecturer For thirty-seven years she has taught and researched in the field of Vertebrate Zoology and has served the depart- ment and the College with unswerving devotion and great distinction Many generations of students have passed through her hands and look back with affection and gratitude for innumerable kindnesses they received from her during their stay here In parting with Dr Tribe the Delegacy is glad to put on record its deep and grateful appreciation of all that she has done for the department of Zoology and for the College and offers her together with its thanks its best wishes for many years of happy retirement Mr Harley -" Forty-five years ago in 1911 Mr Harley joined the Office Staff of King's College London and eight years later in 1919 was appointed Accountant As such he is the last person still in College who served under Principal Headlam From 1919 until the present term when he retires Mr Harley has given devoted and unsparing service to the College and its finances As Accountant he has been particularly well placed to know all members of our Society and he has sought and successfully always to make their time here as free as possible from financial troubles and difficulties To those who have come into contact with him Mr Harley has not only been invariably helpful on matters connected with pensions and policies but he has always with the utmost patience and clarity given freely of his time and experience in advising members and ex-members of staff with regard to their personal financial problems To those who have had to work with him closely it is not too much to say quite simply that Mr Harley has been an example-an example of accurate painstaking care an example of devotion to duty which has taken no account of time or trouble and above all an example of integrity-vir mirae integritatis In electing him Fellow of King's College the Delegacy have con- ferred on Mr Harley the highest honour in their gift but on his retire- ment they would wish to express in the sincerest terms their thanks for
