UNIVERSITY OF LONDON KING'S COLLEGE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE DELEGACY FOR THE SESSION 1955-56 Presented to the Court and the Senate of the University of London A-GENERAL REPORT VISIT OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH On Wednesday December 14th 1955 the College was honoured by visit from His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh Royal Life Governor of the College He spent an hour and half touring the College buildings visiting most departments and meeting representatives of academic staff and students from all faculties THE DELEGACY The following appointment to the Delegacy was made by the Senate in the course of the session Professor Bennet-Clark Ph nominated by the Professorial Board in place of Professor Semple Ph The Hon Sir Arthur Howard was re-elected Chair- man Sir Angus Gillan was elected Treasurer in succession to the late Mr Moore and was re-elected Vice-Chairman CHANGES IN THE STAFF Retirements Academic Staff -Dr Prances Mack Lecturer in English Language and Literature and Dr Margaret Tribe Lecturer in Zoology Administrative Staff -Mr Harley Accountant The following entries of appreciation were recorded in the Minutes of the meeting of the Delegacy in June 1956 Dr Mack -" Miss Frances May Mack Ph has been teacher in this College for over thirty-two years After teaching for some years in schools and training-colleges Miss Mack graduated from King's College in 1923 and in the following year became an Assistant to Professor Israel Gollancz helping in the four-year course for the Diploma in English for evening students After some years of this and other evening work Miss Mack was appointed to the regular staff of the
