182 FACULTY OF ENGINEERING or alternatively Pure Mathematics ן ii Applied Mathematics rat Advanced Level iii Physics iv Chemistry at Ordinary or Advanced Level An applicant who has satisfied minimum entrance requirements and has passed at Advanced Level in three of the subjects Pure Mathematics Applied Mathematics Physics and Chemistry or who has been accepted under the Regulations for Advanced students may be permitted to begin the course of study for the Sc Eng Degree and to complete the qualification for admission during the course for Part of the Einal examination If student who is permitted to present himself for the completion of the qualification required for entry on the course concurrently with the Part examination fails to complete the qualification he will not be notified of the result of his candidature at the Part examination candidate shall be eligible to present himself for the Part examination after having satisfactorily attended approved courses therefor extending over one academic year The subjects of Part shall be as follows Strength and Elasticity of Materials One paper of three hours Fluid Mechanics in each of subjects Theory of Heat Engines to Surveying Electrical Technology Theory of Machines and Engineering Two papers of three and Drawing four hours respectively Mathematics Two papers of three hours each Candidates will be required to satisfy the Examiners in all seven subjects In each subject excepting Mathematics the examination shall include the examination of course work The standard of the question papers and of the course work for this examination shall be such as is generally recognised as suitable for candidates who have completed one academic year after passing the Preliminary examination It shall be within the discretion of the Board of Examiners to refer candidate in not more than one subject candidate who has been referred in subject under Section shall be allowed to present himself for the examination in that subject at subsequent Part examination
