COURSES OF STUDY 143 Chemistry Chemistry Physics and either Mathematics Pure and Applied or Pure Mathematics For applicants for the Sc Special course in Chemistry there will be special written test in February This test will be held in conjunction with University College London and applicants will be informed of details in due course Candidates with strong preference for either college should make this clear on their application forms Geology Any three Science subjects included in the list of subjects for the Sc General degree Geography Any three Science subjects included in the list of subjects for the Sc General degree Botany Botany or Biology Chemistry and one of Mathematics or Physics or Zoology Zoology may not be taken with Biology Candidates are also required to take an entrance test as indicated below gr Zoology Three Science subjects chosen from the list of subjects for the Sc General degree above Candidates are advised to offer Physics Chemistry and either Zoology or Biology Candidates are also required to take an entrance test as indicated below Entrance Test for Botany and Zoology Selected candidates will be required to attend for personal interview and for test both of which will be held at King's College in 1958 on Saturday 8th or 15th March All candidates selected will be officially notified by the Sub-Dean or the Tutor to Women Students of the day and time when they should attend Subjects Taken in Various Degree Courses General Degree Course The course is divided into two sections and the examination is taken in two parts Part is taken after one-year course in three subjects and Part II after further two-year course in two subjects In the first year of the course candidate must take three of the following subjects Mathematics Biology Botany Physics Geology Zoology Chemistry Psychology Biology may not be taken with either Botany or Zoology Candidates who have passed only in Pure Mathematics will be required to produce evidence of satisfactory knowledge of Applied Mathematics more particularly Dynamics At King's College admissions for Chemistry will be restricted to those who intend to continue Chemistry in Part II of the course King's College does not at present provide Part General Degree Courses in these subjects course in Psychology for Part may be taken at Birkbeck College on an intercollegiate basis
