82 prizes-theology Β-Prizes open to students in the Facui γϊ of Theology only JSicftnell fl ri3e This Prize was founded in 1935 from funds subscribed by his colleagues and pupils in memory of the Rev Edward John Bicknell Professor of the Exegesis of the New Testament from 1928 to 1934 The Prize which consists of books to the value of £4 4s is offered once in two years The Prize is open to all graduates and Associates of the College who have studied in the Theological Department of the College for not less than two sessions and are not of more than three years' standing since taking their degree or Associateship in the College No candidate may enter for the Prize more than once The Prize will be awarded on the result of an examination on the theory and practice of the Textual Criticism of the Greek Testament and viva voce examination to ascertain the candidate's ability to read and explain the Apparatus Criticus of Tischendorf von Soden Souter and Legg The Prize will be next offered in 1951 IRnowling Sermon pri3e Fund was raised in 1907 by his friends and former pupils in honour of the Reverend Richard John Knowling Canon of Durham Professor of Exegesis of the New Testament at King's College from 1894 to 1905 and at his request part of the fund amounting to £35 15s was devoted to the foundation of prize in the Theological Department The Prize which is of the value of £3 4s is open to regular students of the Theological Faculty in their final year The Prize is awarded for the best written sermon preached in Chapel
