scholarships-natural science 69 After receiving these reports the Principal shall recommend to the Delegacy candidate for appointment or shall state that in his opinion there is no candidate of sufficient merit δ The usual appointment of Student will be for two years but the Delegacy shall require report on his progress from the Professor of his Department at the end of each year and may if they consider it necessary decline to renew the Studentship They may at the end of the two years renew the Studentship from year to year if strong recommendation to that effect is made by the Principal provided that in no case it be held for more than four years Every Layton Student will bo required to carry on research work under the advice and direction of the Head of his Department either in the College Laboratories or elsewhere He must not without the consent of the Delegacy undertake any other work but he may be called upon to do such teaching in the College as is not incom- patible with his research work The Delegacy may out of any surplus income of the Fund make grants towards the expenses for travelling and research aniell Scbolarsbip This Scholarship was founded in 1864 in honour of John Frederick Daniell Professor of Chemistry in King's College from 1831 to 1845 Its object is to encourage the prosecution of original research in Chemistry This Scholarship is of the value of £40 is tenable for one year in the College and is open to every regular student of the College It will be awarded at the end of each Session on the recommendation of the Daniell Professor of Chemistry The Scholar must undertake to work for higher degree Ibarolb IRow Stubentsbip Founded in 1919 by Mrs Row in memory of her son Harold Row Sc formerly student of the College and for 12 years member of the staff of the Zoological Department Its object is to encourage the prosecution of original research in Zoology The Studentship is of the value of £55 per annum and will be offered every other year In addition all fees except the usual Registration Fee will be remitted The Studentship will be awarded upon the recommendation of the Professor of Zoology Preference will be given to student who has graduated with Honours from the College The Studentship is normally tenable for two years but may be renewed in exceptional circumstances for third year The Student must work in the Department of Zoology of King's
