48 general information No other lockers or drawers may be used other than those provided by the College These lockers are provided for the convenience of students but the College cannot be responsible for the loss of property not placed in the charge of the recognized porters MUSEUMS Kino George the Third Queen Victoria presented to King's College in 1841 the valuable collection of mechanical models and philosophical instruments formed by King George the Third Part of the collection is con- tained in the Museum which bears his name but the greater portion has been transferred on loan to the Science Museum at South Kensington The Museum also contains the valuable collection of the late Sir Charles Wheatstone and from time to time extensive additions have been made by the College and by the donations of private individuals Anatomy The Anatomical Museum contains valuable collection presented to the College by the widow of the late Professor Hughes and also collections presented by the late Sir David Ferrier and additions made by the College at various times THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY The University Library including the Music Library is open to all registered internal students of the University Information leaflets and forms of application for Readers' tickets may be had from the Assistant in charge in the General Library of the College COLLEGE LIBRARIES The Libraries of the College contain 156 000 volumes 45 000 of which are in the General Library In addition to the General Library the College has the following departmental libraries -1 Anatomy and Physiology Botany Chemical Engineering Chemistry Classics Education Electrical Engineering Engineering Civil and Mechanical English the Skeat and Fumivall 10 French 11 Geography 12 Geology 13 German 14 History 15 Imperial History 16 Laws 17 Mathematics 18 Pharmacology 19 Physics 20 Portu- guese 21 Spanish 22 Zoology Details of special collections such as the Marsden Library will be found on page 41 of the Calendar for 1939-40 The Library will be open during term time from 30 to 45 from Mondays to Fridays and from 30 to on Saturdays In vacations it will be open from 10 to 30 from Mondays to Fridays and from 10 to 12 noon on Saturdays except during parts of August and other periods when it is closed for cleaning
