ii ANNUAL REPORT proceeded to the Th The Council are assured by members of the Professorial Board that they will have in Mr Trillo very patient and painstaking teacher of New Testament Greek and this is always needed in the Faculty of Theology where New Testament Greek is compulsory for the and is studied to far higher standard than in the General Ordination Examination there are always students in fair numbers who find the language their greatest difficulty in the course There were no other changes in the teaching staff fact which the Council noted with satisfaction believing as it does in the desirability of the greatest possible measure of continuity of teaching and tradition in such Faculty as that of Theology Faculty In the 1949-50 session there were 186 junior members of the Theo- logical Faculty of whom 30 were women For the Student Body there is no question that the greatest single change in their social life in the College and their greatest gain since the Union Society came into being was the opening of the former Chesham Hotel in Surrey Street as Students' Union The Union Society Executive upon which the Theological Faculty was strongly represented particularly in the person of Mr Edward Thompson the Junior Vice-President who was responsible for the running of the Ches- ham was specially active during the year in establishing the new headquarters upon sound basis and remarkable measure of success was achieved The loss of the former separate Faculty Common Rooms is more than οίϊ-set by the mixing together of the members of all Faculties and by the new sense of corporate life in the Union Society which has followed the inauguration of Chesham House At Easter new Union Society Executive took office in which President Secretary and Junior Vice-President were members of the Theological Faculty The usual Commemoration Service was held in the College Chapel at the end of the Michaelmas Term the preacher being the Master of Christ's College Cambridge Canon Raven Attendances by the Student Body at this and other Chapel Services were very encouraging throughout the year and on Fridays the King's College Singers sang Evensong under the direction of Mr Last with equal skill and devotion The Maurice lectures were delivered in the Lent Term by Sir Walter Moberly who re-examined the Doctrine of Eternal Punishment The special lectures in Theology under the auspices of the University were delivered in King's College by Professor Η Rowley Hostel The Hostel was both happy and successful during the year but short-staffed At Christmas Mr Simon who had been very stimulat-
