THE THEOLOGICAL DEPARTMENT of KING'S COLLEGE LONDON UNIVERSITY OF LONDON ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COUNCIL FOR THE SESSION 1949-50 presented to the COURT of the COLLEGE Council The Council has held three meetings during the year on each occasion jointly with the Theological Committee As the year ended Mr Power returned to the Council meeting after long and severe illness to the great pleasure of his friends The Council received with regret the news of the death of one of its most senior members Mr Ernest Wythes and the death of Dr Ο Oesterley who for many years added distinction to the College when he was Professor of Old Testament Studies removed one of the best-known names among the many scholars who have given their services so effectively to the Theological Department in years past Fellowship The Reverend Professor James who has now been member of the teaching staff for five years and the Right Reverend Norman Shapley recently consecrated as Bishop of the Windward Isles were elected into Fellowships of the College Staff Towards the end of the year the Reverend Last decided to concentrate upon his musical work and to accept post as part-time lecturer in Music The Council are aware that in Mr Last they have musical expert who has given to the whole College the best music it has had for many years and they welcome the decision of the Delegacy to contribute towards his salary To take Mr Last's place in the New Testament teaching the Council appointed the Reverend Trillo newly returned to London as Rector of Friern Barnet after some years of service to the Schools Department of the Student Christian Movement Mr Trillo took First Class in the and afterwards
