UNIVERSITY OF LONDON KING'S COLLEGE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE DELEGACY FOR THE SESSION 1949-50 Presented to the COURT and the SENATE of the UNIVERSITY OF LONDON A-GENERAL REPORT THE DELEGACY The Delegacy regret to record that the pressure of his other engage- incuts has necessitated the resignation of Sir Arthur Fleming The following appointments to the Delegacy were made by the Senate in the course of the session Sir Harold Gibson Howitt and Professor Semple Ph representing the Professorial Board in place of Professor Temple Sc The Delegacy received with regret the resignation of Sir Ralph Wedgwood Bart from the Chairmanship and the resignation of Sir Frederick Butler from the Treasurer- ship Both however will continue as members of the Delegacy The Hon Arthur Howard was appointed Chairman of the Delegacy and Dr Prideaux was appointed Vice-Chairman Mr Moore was appointed Treasurer The Delegacy desire to place on record their appreciation of the services of Sir Ralph Wedgwood as Chairman of the Delegacy Sir Ralph became member of the Delegacy in 1939 was member of the Finance Committee from 1939 to 1949 became Vice-Chairman of the Delegacy in 1944 when he was appointed Fellow of the College and succeeded Lord Blanesburgh as Chairman in 1940 In 1947 he was made Life Governor of the College The Delegacy wish to express to him their gratitude for the friendly dexterity with which he has presided over their meetings and guided the policy of the College during the exceptionally difficult period following the return from evacuation The Delegacy also wish to record their appreciation of the distinguished service rendered to the College by Sir Frederick Butler since his first appointment to the Delegacy in 1933 He became member of the Finance Committee in 1934 and was Treasurer of the College from 1940 to 1950 He directed the finances of the College with conspicuous wisdom and success and his lucid exposition of financial matters at the Delegacy meetings called forth the admiration of the members
