COURSES OF STUDY 181 The procedure to be followed in 1952 with regard to matriculation and registration as an internal student is the same for all Faculties and is outlined above under General Information on page 42 Final Sc Engineering -University Regulations The examination for the degree of Sc Engineering both Pass and Honours shall consist of three parts namely Part Part II and Part III The fee for the whole examination is ten guineas viz guineas for Part alone guineas for Part II alone guineas for Part III alone for re-entry in one subject of Parts or II see and 11 below guineas for re-entry for Course Work guinea The entry form when completed must be forwarded together with the fee to the Academic Registrar of the University not later than 20th February after which date no entries can be received The time-table of the examination will be furnished by the University to each candidate showing both the time and place of the examination in each subject The examiners shall be at liberty to test any candidate by means of oral questions Before admission to the course student must qualify to matri- culate and must either possess certificate awarded on Higher School Examination recognised by the Ministry of Education as an approved Second Examination in Secondary Schools with passes either at main subject standard in three of the following subjects Pure Mathematics Applied Mathematics Physics and Chemistry and at main or subsidiary standard in the remaining subject or ii at main subject standard in Mathematics Pure and Applied Physics and Chemistry or have passed at Advanced Level at an approved examination for the General Certificate of Education in either the three subjects Mathematics Pure and Applied Physics and Chemistry or the four subjects Pure Mathematics Applied Mathematics Physics and Chemistry or pass Preliminary examination in any of these subjects in which he has not so qualified For the present the Preliminary examination will be the Intermediate examination in Science or an approved equivalent candidate shall be eligible to present himself for the Part examina- ation after having satisfactorily attended approved courses therefor extending over one academic year Students who are matriculated students of the University and have passed an Inter- mediate examination of any University in Great Britain and Northern Ireland and such other Universities as may be approved for this purpose in the appropriate subjects may apply for admission as Internal Students and for permission to proceed to first degree in the Faculty of Engineering in this University without having previously satisfied the examiners at the Preliminary examination of this University ν
