176 FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE ANATOMY Head of the Department Professor Thomas Nicol Sc The following courses of instruction are given Yj-Junior Course Michaelmas term This is an introductory course to be taken by all students in their first year of Anatomy dealing with the principles of Anatomy in relation to the Skeletal Muscular Vasoular and other systems of the body -Neurological Anatomy Lent and Easter terms course devoted to the Anatomy of the Central Nervous System and the Organs of speoial sense -Human Embryology Easter Michaelmas and Lent terms Y4-Arthrology Lent term Y5-Practical Anatomy The Dissecting Room is open from to daily except Saturday when it is closed at midday The Practical Course is conducted under the supervision of the Professor assisted by the Lecturers and Demonstrators Students are required to undergo periodical examinations on the part they are dissecting -Demonstrations on Regional Anatomy and Tutorial Classes in Osteology are also conducted in each term of the course but students are required to attend only the demonstrations and tutorial classes dealing with the parts they are dissecting Students in their 5th term are advised to attend if possible all the demonstrations Examinations -Class Examinations are held at intervals Sc Special Human Anatomy and Morphology Special courses of instruction will be provided for approved medical students who may wish to take this degree One year's further study is required after completing the 2nd examination and before commencing hospital work Particulars of the work to be covered and other important information regarding registration etc are given in the University Red Book Anatomy for Dental Students This course consists of series of lectures and demonstrations designed to meet the requirements of the First Examination for the Licence in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons Classes hrs weekly throughout the year Courses in Special Dental Anatomy and Histology are given in the Michaelmas and Lent terms
